Sarenbou's goal in life was to gain the power of the White Armor. Knowing what kind of power the armor possessed he attacked the Ronin after their battle with Talpa to find out which of the team members was the bearer of the armor. When he found out that it was Ryo that had the armor, he challenged the boy directly.
He might have even gained the white armor had he remembered the connection with the other four Ronin armors and their distressing tendency to pull it together at the last minute to give Ryo the chance he needed to free himself from the flames that threatened to burn him alive and defeat this overconfident lord.
