Information provided by Shouichi Takeuchi
Sanada Ryo:
The Sanada family were among the craftiest samurai warlords of the
Japanese Civil War Era. They fought for Tokugawa and Toyotomi, who
were enemies.
Hashiba Touma:
Toyotomi Hideyoshi was once known as Hashiba. He created the name
for himself by taking the WA kanji from Niwa and the SHIBA kanji from
Shibata, both of whom were powerful warlords. Pronouncing the WA as
Ha
, his name became Hashiba Hideyoshi. After the assassination of
Oda Nobunaga, the Emperor gave Hideyoshi the name Toyotomi
, by
which he is most widely known in Japanese history.
Mouri Shin:
The Mouri family were the major sea force of the Civil War.
Date Seiji:
Date Masumune was the first vice-Shogun under Tokugawa. He was
called Dokugan Ryuu
, the One-Eyed Dragon. When not in his yoroi,
Seiji's hair completely covers his right eye.
Yagiyu Nasuti:
The Yagiyu samurai were the master swordsmen of the shoguns during
the Age of Tokugawa. Their style is called Yagiyu Shinkage Ryuu
.
To this day, the Yagiyu family is very wealthy. This is exemplified
in the Samurai Troopers series by the size of the Yagiyu house. A
house of that size in Japan is considered a great extravagance,
especially given how near it is to Tokyo.
